~The Latest on Baby Girl Jones~

On March 12th I went down for a regular OB appt.! At 30 weeks they always start me doing AFI's (fetal monitoring), NST's (ultrasound to check fluid) and then the regular OB appt. follows! So this day I went into NST appt. then I went to my OB and the Doctor said that in the ultrasound something needed to be double checked so they needed to send me to the Maternal Fetal Medicine unit and get a second opinion... never telling me what needed to be double checked! I guess I didn't think much of it at first but as the week went on I couldn't help but wonder what was up! The doctor also said I was measuring at 35 weeks when I was only 31 weeks! So they needed to check baby's growth!
All the fuzziness on the back of her head is hair!
So on March 19th a week later I finally had my appt. with Maternal Fetal Medicine! The ultrasound nurse came in and checked everything from the fluid to measurements of the baby to all the different organs! Then the Specialist came in and took a quick look at what she did then paused and said we needed to talk! He briefly said your daughter has something call DUODENAL ATRESIA. Basically a bowel obstruction and that I would need to now deliver this baby at the U of U and she would then need a pediatric surgeon to fix this problem immediately after she was born!
I was in shock! I didn't even know what to say or how to react! It just seemed so unreal!
We then left and went to his office where we talked about it a little more and he helped me plan out what we needed to do next!
Duodenal Atresia is a condition in which the first part of the small bowel (the duodenum) has not developed properly. It is not open and cannot allow the passage of stomach contents. The cause of duodenal atresia is unknown, but it is thought to result from problems during an embryo's development in which the duodenum does not normally change from a solid to a tube-like structure.
Duodenal atresia is seen in more than 1 in 10,000 live births. Approximately 20-30% of infants with duodenal atresia have Down Syndrome.
He said he didn't believe she had Down Syndrome because her facial features don't resemble a Down's and they usually measure small in the legs and her legs at 32 weeks were measuring 36! But they took my blood and we will find out in about 2 weeks or so! We don't care either way... as long as she is here and healthy! They were also concerned with all the fluid in my stomach because of the condition she has during pregnancy there is an increase of amniotic fluid in the uterus. This increase in amniotic fluid is caused by the inability of the fetus to swallow the amniotic fluid and absorb it in their digestive tract. The fluid during pregnancy should measure between 15 and 20 cm. my fluid was measuring at 36 cm. hence the reason I was so huge! So they scheduled me to get an amnio reduction for the next day because there is a big fear I go into pre-term labor and there was just way to much fluid! Then they sent me home!
I held it together clear until the time I saw McKay and then I just lost it! Everything ran through my mind... why are my girls so difficult, why her, what if things don't go smoothly, I don't want a new doctor to deliver my baby I LOVE the one I have and a million other things! I prayed more that night then I think I ever had!
Her cute foot!
Such a cute girl already! We are already so in love with her!
The next day on March 20th I headed to the hospital so they could preform the amnio reduction! They put me in a labor and delivery room and ironically it was the room I delivered Hadlee in! I honestly started freaking out then and there! I wasn't prepared for this and why didn't I let McKay or my Mom come with me... they asked a million times! I am not this brave! I can't do this alone! Well whether I could or couldn't it was happening! They put my IV in the nurses started running in and out getting everything ready the Specialist kept coming in wondering why things weren't ready yet! Finally it was time for the main event! They gave me a relaxant thru my IV because I was scared to death and then the Specialist numbed my stomach and it began! He stuck the needle right by my belly button and took a few syringe's of fluid out and then came the bottles! He had four 1-liter bottles! He had a tube hooked to the needle in my stomach and then he hooked the end of the tube to another needle that was poked into the top of one of those bottles and the fluid started pouring in! This process took a bit but it was going very well because the baby was not getting in the way thank heaveans! They ended up getting just over 3 liters of fluid! They wanted to get 4 but the baby started to get in the way so he called it good! Yes by the way just over 3 liters... a lot!!! The ultrasound nurse checked my again and my fluid level was 26 cm... still more then they want but lots better then what it was! I couldn't believe the difference I felt in my body after that fluid was all gone! It was like a 10 pound weight was lifted off my back! They cleaned everything up and left me there to recover! I started almost immediately afterwards cramping and contracting because of all the fluid they took out! So they gave me a shot to stop the contracting but it didn't really work so they gave me another shot a couple hours afterwards and it seemed to help a little! They were never painful just there! They also gave me a shot for the baby one of two doses, a steroid to help develop her lungs in case I go into pre-term labor, I got the second shot 24 hours later from my wonderful mother! They finally let me go once I couldn't feel the cramping/contractions but they were actually still happening! I felt like this day went on forever!
Her profile!
The next 2 days my stomach was pretty sore where they had the needle! At this point though I was finally feeling a sense of peace! I knew that at this point that whatever was supposed to happen would and it was in the Lord's hands! I had researched it out more and the success rate is 95% and the chances of it showing signs of problems again for her after surgery is minimal! I still wish I could have Dr. Lunt deliver but I will be happy with whoever I have up there! We have scheduled a consult with the pediatric surgeon for March 27th up in Salt Lake and we are also supposed to be meeting with my Dr. that same day! We will have more answers after I hope since we still have so many! This all came about so fast and quick! We will be staying in Salt Lake for a couple weeks possibly more! The reason why she has to have surgery immediately afterwards is because she won't be able to eat until it's fixed! We are praying everyday all goes well! I do know we will be having her early then expected so we have been trying to get things ready! They have to find a happy medium between her lungs being developed and not going to late! So hopefully we can get that question answered next week as well!
Me a week before the amnio reduction... I grew like 4 extra inches in that week so I was even bigger!
Me two days after!
You can tell a difference if you look at my shirt! They are the same size, same shirt just different colors and the pink is all tight and the blue is all baggy in back! Ask my family also they could tell a big difference!

Happy Birthday!

Our sweet girl is 3 today! We can't believe it's been that long! She is such a blessing and we are so happy she is apart of our lives! Thoughts of her bring more happiness, joy and love then tears!
March 22, 2010 @ 3:36 p.m.
She weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. and was 21 in. long!

Carter knows who she is and loves to see pictures of her! When we ask him where she is at he will point to Heaven and then blow her a kiss! It is the sweetest thing to watch! I know they were best friends before he entered this world and are still best of friends!
We don't know where her hair came from! Considering that Carter had a little and then lost it all and was bald forever! She must have stole it all from him!
Our first Family picture!
Happy Birthday sweet Hadlee! We Love You so much! You are always in our thoughts!

~Carter at 24 Months~

Well Carter is two and growing everyday! It's hard to believe time has gone by so fast! We love every minute with this boy... he is so fun, funny, a joy to be around always! McKay and I really do have a hard time leaving him behind! We love to take him with us everywhere! He had his two year check up and he is weighing in at 29.5 lbs and in the 68% and he is 35 1/2 in. tall and in the 78%!
We have been lucky to have the weather warm lately! Warm enough some days for shorts or warm enough other days for a light jacket and all Carter wants to do is be outside and play play play! We were outside one day for probably 6 hours and he cried and screamed when we said it was time to clean up and go inside for the day... so if he had his way he would live out there all the time! He is a freak about having clean hands! He will refuse to eat until we get him a fork or spoon and if he is outside playing or eating chips he will eat one and ask for hands to be cleaned or picks up dirt and will turn to us to get his hands clean! But he absolutely hates his face washed so he would go all day with a messy face and not care but we can't make it more then 10 minutes without getting his hands washed! Softball season has also started for me and he has been coming to a lot of games and practices and  loves every minute of it!
Him thinking he needs to be one of the coaches!
Checking out the new tent trailer Gpa and Gma got! We already love it and can't wait to go camping in it!
He has an obsession this last month with flicking his toe nails with his fingernail so it makes that click sound and anytime he is sitting around he will do it!
So this particular night he was doing it as we read scriptures before bed time!
He loves the 4-wheeler! Anyone that takes him for a ride is his best friend for the day!
He got this remote control car for his birthday and has really enjoyed playing with it! He has even learned that he can drag behind him as well! So it has a multi use!
Giving me his cheeser faces in the bathtub!
Lately he has also been climbing under the couch and playing with his toys or just laying under there for fun! On occasion though he gets stuck!
Loves playing at the park! Asks to go to the "wee" everyday usually right as he wakes up!
Loving the swing!

Made it through the tunnel!
This day he found a bike helmet and wore it around for an hour! He looked to funny! He also likes to stroll the stroller! Baby sister better be up for some rides!
Went on a nightly walk and I almost had him asleep by the time we got home!
Showing Mom the way to go!
Enjoying the stream at the park with Mom!
Thinking he is pretty funny for throwing my keys in the river! Guess that's what I get for taking so many pics!
Loved being able to stick his feet in the stream and didn't know why we couldn't just jump all the way in!
Playing the iPad and taking a rest while Dad works with the Pine View baseball game!
Always loves reading books!
Carter has learned all the letters of the alphabet and points out all the letters he sees! He also has a few numbers down and that has been his latest obsession! He loves to learn and loves when we are there doing things with him! He still loves my hair! I honestly can't believe I am not bald! He loves sympathy even if he isn't really hurt! He pulls out the fakest cry you'll ever hear! He loves to snuggle... yes still and I just love it! Hope it never stops! We just love this kid and happy he is apart of our family!

~You've Got Ears Say Cheers~

Well Carter is obsessed with Mickey Mouse! He loves it! So we obviously had to have a Mickey Mouse Birthday Party!
Carter's Birthday was on March 12th but we celebrated on the 11th to be able to have more family come and celebrate with us!
My awesome crafty sister made these super cute party invitations!

So as you can see we celebrated by going to Jumpin' Jacks! We invited all his cousins that lived close by and they all were able to make it and all the kids had a blast! They all left with bright red faces!
We sure missed the Iowa Jones', the Amberson's, Grandma Jones, the Toomey's, the Enterprise Jones' and Colin!
I tried to get a picture of all! But the Jones' adults were dodging my pictures really well! Especially Gpa Jones!
Carter going down his first slide alone! He loves the park and slides so it was kinda funny how cautious he was at first to go down the slides! He liked to go with McKay or other cousins! If he went alone he would always lay down like this with his hands right out and up!
Keltyn loved just being there and being able to enjoy the fun! He constantly had a smile on his face! Here Carter and Keltyn took turns going down the Hippo!
Tallon enjoying the fun! I do think he ended up getting hurt the most... good thing he is tough!
Kayden! Silly boy wanted me to take a picture of him on every ride! He likes the camera!
AJ was non-stop!
The boys chillin' and enjoying the excitement of the kids!
This was one of Carter's favorite things to do was ride the horse! He kept trying to mke it rock back and forth but this dang horse wouldn't budge!
Carter and Treyson heading to the next ride!
Kelli was the cool Aunt and went on the slides with the kids! Here she took Keltyn and Talyn!
Taya, Kayden and silly Treyson following from behind!
This blow-up you strapped up in a vest then you run as far as you can before the resistance in the bungee cord whips you back!
McKay took a try and as he was running tripped on the bungee and biffed it! It was hilarious!
AJ and Isaac shooting hoops!
Dayne the pretty boy! Got some red cheeks!
I know this picture is blurry but I still love it!
Kelli, Keltyn, McKay and Carter all with the biggest smiles on their faces!
I secretly think the adults had as much fun or more fun then the kids!
Isaac being yanked back!
Carter and Isaac coming down the slide!
By this point Carter did not want to leave!
I went once with the cute little guy! I can't bend over with this huge belly so climbing up wa a bit of a joke! But I made it and Dayne, Carter and I went down!
Carter, McKay and AJ heading down!
Another one of their blow up slides they had a huge ball you could hit back and forth to each other and Carter liked to hit it and then have it hit his head!
The crew!
Dayne, Tallon, Aubrey, Treyson, AJ, Carter, McKinley, Taya, Kyli, Keltyn, Treyson and Kayden!
After Jumpin' Jacks we headed over to Aunt Kelli's house where she was so nice to let us invade her house! We had some pizza, ate cake and ice cream and opened presents!
I wanted to make Carter's cake but with softball, work and taking care of a 2 year old who is on the go 24/7 it just wasn't going to happen! So a lady here in Enterprise made this sweet cake for Carterman and it turned out awesome! He loved it and all the kids thought it was pretty cool to!
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake!
Enjoying some beautiful weather and some delicious Hungry Howie pizza!
Taya, Treyson, Talyn and McKinley!
Yum!
Grandma Wallin, Grandpa Wallin, Dayne, AJ, Kayden, Tallon, Aubrey and Carter!
Lovin' the pizza on the Mickey Mouse plate!
Can't believe he is 2!
Everyone singing Happy Birthday to the man of the day! He thought it was pretty cool we sang to him he asked for us to do it again!
Blowing out the candles... got it with one blow and no spitting! Right on!
Chowing down! The cake was as yummy as it looked!
Kayden, Felicia and Talyn!
Carter really loved it!
Adam and Gma Wallin!
Aubrey, McKinley, Keltyn and Kyli!
Next we opened some presents! He had lots of cute helpers!
Loves car and trucks! Remote control truck!
Opening one almost bigger than him!
Water Play Table and in the bag was clothes and one of his favorites... chocolate!
Happy Birthday to the best son ever! Hope he had a great day and thanks to all who came and celebrated his special day and also to those who wished him, gave a card or just love this little kid!
Bring on the TWO's!!!
