Day 26~Coming Home

Day 26

Wednesday May 22, 2013
We are coming home! There was no reason for us to stay anymore!!! She was keeping her food down and her girth was staying the same! She was eating above 80 mL's! Things were going awesome! I ran a few errands that morning! Like buying two coolers and dry ice so I could take all my breastmilk home for her to use eventually! I had to clean all my crap out of the hotel since I had been living there for 3 weeks! I got to the hospital as soon as i could hoping they would be ready to discharge me ASAP! That was not the case it took forever for them to draw up the papers and get the NP to come in and talk with me before I left! All this time I was thinking something is going to go wong and I am going to get all excited for nothing! The NP finally came and I think I finally left the hospital at about 2:30ish! I drove to the airport where my silly but awesome, wonderful, most amazing mother flew in to drive home with me and Baylee!
Baylee finally out of the hospital, buckled in the car and ready to go get Grandma!
Her head os so tiny this bow kept falling in her face! So I ended up just taking it off!
She rode awesome! She slept the whole way!
McKay was so cute and kept calling to see how close we were! He didn't appreciate how late we left the hospital... like it was in our control!
We finally made it home and Carter was so excited to see Mom and Baylee at home with him! We got big hugs and kisses and he immediately wanted to hold Baylee!
Home at last!
Daddy was so excited to see his baby girl! He couldn't quit smiling! He also never takes pics with my camera and as soon as we got home he took a picture of me with the kids and posted it on facebook about how we were all finally home and safe! It was so very sweet!
After dinner and enjoying each other we went upstairs to put the kids to bed and as I layed Baylee down and was getting some things put away I turned around to see this and I just started to bawl! I was so happy my sweet girl was okay and that finally I was able to have my family all together! I was so overwhelmed with joy, a thankful heart, peace, happiness and I couldn't help but thank my Heavenly Father! He had a hand in all this and I just couldn't be more blessed to have such an awesome family and especially such sweet kids to love on everday of my life!

Welcome Home Baylee Lou!

WE LOVE YOU!!!

...Day 22-25...

Day 22

Saturday May 18, 2013
Today was a huge day! The day started out with my Mom and I going to visit her before we headed to Provo to watch Isaac compete in the State track meet! As we got in there the nurses informed us that the doctor's had not been around to do rounds yet so she would expect them soon! We waited and waited! We were really anxious because she was doing so well with her Anderson tube out and with her small amounts of oral feeds that they were going to probably increase that oral feed amount by about double! Which is huge even though it was still a very little amount! The doctor's came by and proceeded to say yes they would increase her oral amount but that it was still going to be a slow process and the last thing we wanted to do was rush or give her more than she can handle! So it was exciting but sad at the same time because I was getting so very anxious to get out of there! I wanted to be home with my husband and kids and I was sick of all the eating out and cafeteria food! I was going a little stir crazy... but I also just wanted her to be completely healthy, healed and reay for life outside the hospital! So I was torn!
Well after the doctors left my Mom let Sam come in because we were nearing the time we needed to leave! She came in held her a little bit and then was going to go switch my Dad but I had decided while I had her I would go ahead and do her cares since it was that time! I laid her on the crib and had checked her temp., girth, switched the oxygen monitor and began to change her diaper! Sam had decided to stay and watch before she got my Dad! I got done changing her bum and was wrapping her up in her blanket... I had got the first arm pinned in the blanket and went to swaddle the other arm in and she forced her arm out of the blanket her fingers went right under the tube and she yanked the tube out as she fully extended her arm up! I was in complete shock! This was not a good thing and also it happened on my watch under my supervision! I began to bawl! The nurse said it's okay it's not your fault! I didn't believe her! All the while Baylee was just smiling away... seriously! I have never seen such huge grins on her face and so many all at once!
Baylee hadn't pulled it out all the way... but probably only had 4 inches of tube still down the nose! The nurse ran and got the NP and she said pull it we can't put it back and we will just have to hope she eats orally all while asking me if I had done it! Which I hadn't! I was still bawling and blaming myself! I decided to go outside and tell my parents and also decided to stay behind with Baylee to see how she did with the feeds because this was the test of all tests! I didn't want to leave her side! So they all went to see Isaac run and I stayed behind and listened to the Dr.s decide what needed to happen! They decided to only give her half the feedings she needed to eat based on age and weight and height! They knew she would be hungry and maybe a little dehydrated because a few days before they pulled out all her IV's that were helping supplement! So her feedings were 20 mL's then went to 32 mL's then 54mL's and which they held her at till the next afternoon, so 24 hours after she pulled the tube and then she could eat as much as she would take which averaged 70 to 80 mL's which is just short of 3 oz.! She was basically getting 2 to 2.5 oz. every feeding!
Little Lou so very happy that stinkin' tube is out!
So pretty!
I think I cried most the day after the great yanking of the feeding tube!
We watched for a bloated stomach, vomiting, excessive spit up and no pooping!
Trying to make Mom feel better!

Cuddling with my girl!
Getting ready for bed!
Baylee knew what needed to happen and she made it happen! She knew what was best for her and she forced her will because the Dr.s were taking to long! She did great all that day and all that night! They kept calling her the Miracle Baby!
Enjoying time with Pa!

Day 23

Sunday May 19, 2013
We came back first thing in the morning! The nurses said she was doing amazing and eating like a champ still! I couldn't be happier! We still were increasing her feeds so there was still a trial period of how she would do!
Dancing in her sleep!
My family left to go home! I hated not being able to go with them again! We still didn't know how long we would be! Her feeds by this afternoon were at about 2 1/2 oz.! She was doing great and really surprising everyone! They couldn't figure out how she was doing so well because of  how much she was putting out in her Anderson tube just a few days earlier! Still calling her the Miracle baby!
Loving the NO tube look!!!
Mommies girl!

Day 24

Monday May 20, 2013
No change! Still doing wonderful and tolerating her feeds so well! The doctors are telling me to go home but the NP was telling me to stay and ultimately they are the boss! So I was getting anxious but still didn't know when they might send me!

Day 25

Tuesday May 21, 2013
The nurses have been talking about having us go home tomorrow as long as all goes well! We had to do the car seat test! Basically she had to sit in her carseat for 3 hours and be fine! She passed with flying colors!
Carseat test!
I also had to do all these pass offs like videos to watch and CPR and I finished them all that day so i wasn't the one holding us up!

...Day 20-21...

Day 20

Thursday May 16, 2013
Doing great off the Anderson tube! She is surprising all the nurses and doctors! Today they started feeding her by bottle 4 mL which is like nothing at all but awesome that she is finally able to taste the food! The first time she didn't quite know what was going on or what we were trying to do but the second time we started with the binky and then quickly switched over to the bottle and she did amazing! Every feeding after that she downed it like nobody's business and wanted more! We have to go slow though and take it a little bit at a time!
She loves to cuddle with Mom and she loves to be bundled up!
Aunt Kelli was in town and we got a visit from her! We were so excited!

Day 21

Friday May 17, 2013
Still eating her 4 mL out of the bottle! Still downing it!
She is really good at eating while sleeping to!
Also Aunt Sam came to visit! We always love visitors!
She is doing really well at this point! Still tall and skinny! Doctors are hoping to slowly keep increasing her feeds each day a little at a time! Today I think we hit 8 mL which is still not much but progress! 1oz. = 30 mL so she isn't even getting 1/2 an ounce!
Gma and Gpa Wallin and Isaac are up here as well! Isaac had state track at BYU! We went and saw him run his event this morning and we are hoping to go see him run again tomorrow!

...Day 16-20...

Day 16

Sunday May 12, 2013
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
So that morning we went to visit Baylee! The hospital had a cute card for me that had the cutest saying on it!
Carter walking around in Z's (Isaac) shoes before we headed to the hospital!
Eating treats with Dad while everyone got ready!
Arrived at the hospital to see Little Lou!
So we walked into her room and I looked into her bed and thought that is not my baby where did they pur her! I honestly thought they had the wrong baby in Baylee's crib because they had the right name tag! I felt horrible when I realized it was really her! I seriously about cried I felt so bad! What had happened was they had both tubes taped off to the same side of her face! When we got there that morning they had taped one on each side during the night and the tubes were pulling her nostrils so far off to the side it changed her whole look!
As you can see...
Poor girls nostrils I can't imagine that it felt good!
After everyone got some good visiting in we went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory!
It was good to spend some time with Carter knowing that everyone was leaving me again to go home and work! I hate this moment every time! I hated not being able to go with them, I hated being away from my boys and I hated being alone when I wasn't at the hospital! I seriously bawled for an hour after they all left me!
Outside the Cheesecake Factory!

Day 17

Monday May 13, 2013
Was uneventful! I spent literally all day there at the hospital! Doctor's were debating what to do with Baylee because they were hoping to pull out the Anderson tube but she still had so much output they were hesitant... but they couldn't figure out why she still had so much coming out!

Day 18

Tuesday May 14, 2013
Everything that was coming out of her Anderson they decided to IV it back to her in hopes that she would get the nutrients from it! Also the liquid that was coming out of the Anderson was milky so they thought the milk that they were feeding her was coming back up through the surgical site which is not what is supposed to happen because gravity should be pulling everything downwards! So they decided to do an live x-ray where they put a dye into her feeding tube and watch what it does and where the liquid is going! They noticed that it was going through as normal but a tiny bit was going back up through the surgical site! This told us 2 things... 1) milk was coming back up into the stomach which we don't want that and 2) her surgical site was widening enough for liquid to pass through which is really awesome!
Preparing for her x-ray! Not happy about it at all!
Finally back in bed sleeping! Happy about this!

Day 19

Wednesday May 15, 2013
This was a test day! The Doctor came in that morning and we talked about everything that needs to happen and that should be happening and what we hope to happen soon! He kept running through a few ideas... 1) take out the Anderson and see how she does! If she does well then great we can move to the next step and if she doesn't then we just put it back in! 2) Take out both tubes and hope for the best! Hope she starts eating fine on her own and things run through her system as they should! If that didn't work we couldn't put the feeding tube back in we would just have to feed her IV fluids! Or 3) keep both in and hope her output in the Anderson tube decreases!
He really racked his brain about what he should do and finally decided to yank the Anderson tube and see how she did! He left to talk with the Nurse Practitioner! The nurse then said well what should I do pull it or wait for the written orders from the Nurse Practitioner? Since protocol says wait for written orders! The other nurse in the room said just pull it the Doctor himself said do it! So they pulled it!!!
About 5 minutes later the Doctor walked back in and looked at Baylee and said "oh it's out"! Okay we will see how she does!
I guess when he went and talked to the Nurse Practitioner she had talked him out of it and he was on his way back to tell us not to do it!
Looks so different without the Anderson tube in!
So now is the test! How will she do???
One of her nurses got her this light up sing-a-long!
She loved it!
Couldn't quit staring!

Day 20

Thursday May 16, 2013
Her bandage also came off this day!
Sweet scar! Yeah!
Started really loving her fists! Found her hands!
Close-up of her scar!
She was doing really well with her Anderson out! She wasn't throwing up or gagging and these were all good signs!

~Day 14 &15~

Day 14

Friday May 10, 2013
Well start off I don't know if many of you know but my Dad is the Enterprise High School Head Softball coach and I assist him! My sister is a assistant on San Juan High School softball team! We are in the same division and meet up at State a lot! So we were both in the state tournament with our teams at the Payson softball complex! Again McKay and I did't go the first day of the tournament but we did head down to Friday's games since they didn't start till 2! So that morning we headed to the hospital to visit with Baylee and my sister came up to visit with Little Lou as well!
Baylee and Aunt Sam
Then we headed down to the games! It was so good to see the girls! I have developed such a good relationship with them and they were and have been so good to Carter and I and so fun with this pregnancy! So when I arrived they all greeted me with a hug and excitement that I started to bawl! I blame it on the hormones!
Carter playing with the bugs!
All the girls love to play with Carter! They were such big helps to help entertain him!
The girls won the first game that day which put us playing San Juan that night which is Sam's team! We lost to San Juan and played the next morning for a chance to play in the championship!
McKay and Carter packed up and ready to head to the hotel!
Got to the hotel and now ready to swim!
This kid loves the water and loves to swim!
After we swam we went and ate pizza that Coach Wallin bought for the team!
Then Sam came over because our hotels were right next to each other and gave Carter ice cream!

Day 15

Saturday May 11, 2013
We headed to the softball field right away! After I got a cute pic of Carter hanging out on the bed!
Checking out of our room with a ride from Daddy!
Arrived at the fields! Carter went straight to the ball bin and played it like drums! He was already pumped up!
We beat Grand that morning to play in the championship against San Juan who we had to beat twice to win State! We ended up losing in the seventh inning when we had the lead most the game it was a thriller of a game! The girls played awesome and it was fun to be apart of such a fun experience!
After the game we headed back to the hospital! I let my Mom and McKay go in first and me and Carter went to see Spiderman and Superman!
Carter and Superman
Carter and Spiderman!
After Grandma and McKay had a turn Isaac and I went in!
Isaac and Baylee!
McKay and Baylee! She loves her Daddy!
After we spent a few hours we headed back to the hotel room to rest up a little!
Isaac zonked out quickly!
Carter was to wired to sleep! So he bothered Grandpa instead!
I really enjoyed seeing the girls play such great softball but I was so happy to come back and see my baby that I stayed at the hospital way to late into the night!
